Mobile BMW DME unlocking in Philadelphia and southeastern Pennsylvania
We come to your car and unlock the DME with the unit still installed. Nothing is
removed, nothing is shipped, and you drive away the same visit.
What we do
Mobile DME unlock — $399. The main service. We come to the car, unlock the DME in place, and verify the vehicle before we leave.
Unlock + ECU flash — $549. The unlock, plus we stay and get your first map loaded and running through your own tuning platform.
V8 dual-DME unlock — $699. N63 and S63 V8s run two control units. Both are backed up and unlocked in the same visit, with the units staying in the car.
V8 dual-DME unlock + ECU flash — $849. The dual-DME unlock, plus we stay and get your first map loaded and running through your own tuning platform.
Coding session — $199. We come to you and change how the car behaves — the warnings that nag, the lighting, the comfort features BMW left switched off. Nothing to do with tuning, and it works on cars we can't unlock.
Cars we cover
It comes down to the control unit, not the badge. Bosch MG1 and DME8 we can almost certainly unlock, and most 2021-onward BMWs qualify. Most older F-chassis cars never shipped locked and need nothing from us at all. DME9 — the Gen 3 B58 and the S68 — is the line nobody can cross yet.
S58 (G87 · G80 · G81 · G82 · G83 · F97 · F98) — M2, M3, M3 Touring, M4, M4 Competition, X3 M, X4 M. BMW M's current 3.0 twin-turbo six, and the reason this service exists. These ship locked from the factory, so nothing writes to them until the unlock is done — no matter which tuning platform you've bought. Coverage runs from the pre-LCI X3 M and X4 M right through the G8x range to the G87 M2.
B58 — Gen 1 & Gen 2 (G20 · G05 · G30 · G01 · G02 · G29 · F30 · F32 · F22) — M340i, 340i, 440i, 540i, X3 M40i, X4 M40i, X5 40i, Z4 M40i, Toyota Supra. The straight-six in everything from an M340i to a Toyota Supra, and the most common car we see after the M cars. Later builds ship locked and earlier ones don't, so this is the platform where production date matters most — two cars from the same model year can need different answers.
B46 / B48 (G20 · G30 · G01 · G22 · G29 · F30 LCI) — 330i, 430i, 530i, X1, X3 30i, Z4 30i. The 2.0 four-cylinder across the 3, 4, 5 and X ranges. Same story as the B58 — later cars ship locked, and the unlock is simply what lets your tuning app write to the car. Plenty of headroom on these once it's open.
S63 Gen 3 · N63 Gen 3 & Gen 4 (F90 · G05 · G30) — M5, X5 50i, 550i, 750i, M850i. BMW's twin-turbo V8s, including the F90 M5. These run two separate control units rather than one, so it is genuinely two unlocks in a single visit — two licences, more time under the bonnet, and a price quoted separately from the six-cylinder work.
B57 — diesel (G30) — 530d and other G30 diesels. The 3.0 straight-six diesel. Diesel tuning is mostly about torque and drivability rather than a headline power figure, and plenty of owners are chasing economy as much as speed. The unlock itself works exactly as it does on the petrol cars.
MINI (F55 · F56 · F60) — Cooper S, John Cooper Works and other MINIs on an MG1 control unit. Mechanically these are the same B46 and B48 family as the BMWs, so the job is the same job — we come to you, the unit stays in the car, and you drive away the same visit. Worth doing on a JCW, which responds well.
N55 · S55 · N20 · N54 (F30 · F32 · F87 · F80 · F82 · F22 · F20) — 335i, 435i, M2, M3, M4, 328i, 428i, 135i. Most older F-chassis cars left the factory unlocked, which means there is nothing for us to do — your tuning platform can already write to the car as it sits. If you own one of these you probably don't need this service at all, and we'd rather tell you that than take your money. It's the engine that decides, not the chassis: an F30 335i needs nothing, while an F30 330i on the four-cylinder does, and the F97 X3 M, F98 X4 M and F90 M5 all need unlocking. Don't go by the badge on the boot.
B58 — Gen 3 (G20 LCI · G22 LCI · G26 LCI · G60 · G70 · G14 · G05 LCI · G06 LCI · G07 LCI · G45) — M340i LCI, M440i LCI, 540i, 740i, 840i, X5 40i LCI, X6 40i LCI, X7 40i LCI, X3 M50. Roughly 2023 onward, with the 48V mild-hybrid setup. BMW moved this engine onto the DME9 control unit and nobody has an unlock for it yet.
S68 (G90 · G99 · G09 · G70 · G05 · G06 · G07 · F95 · F96) — M5, M5 Touring, XM, 760i, X5 M60i, X6 M60i, X7 M60i, X5 M, X6 M, ALPINA XB7. BMW's newest V8, including the G90 M5. Same DME9 control unit as the Gen 3 B58 — and the same answer.
Guides
Does my BMW actually need a DME unlock? — Plenty of people pay for an unlock they never needed. Here's how to tell which side of the line your car falls on.
What BMW coding can actually change — The other half of what a control unit decides. No power, no flash, no licence — and it works on the newest cars that cannot be unlocked at all.
Why your BMW V8 has two DMEs — F90 M5, X5 50i, 550i, 750i and M850i owners: your car has two brains, and a half-finished job looks exactly like a finished one.
